Mike Hentz (USA/D): born 1954 in New Jersey, Irvington, is a musicion, actor, sculptor, photographer, designer, media installation and performance artist and teacher.
Founder of music performance groups PADLT NOIDLT and MINUS DELTA t. Visiting professor at the HfBK Hamburg (per pro for Sigmar Polke). 1980 – 84: THE BANGKOK- PROJEKT of MINUS DELTA t, Journey, expedition and transport of a 5 1/2 ton granite stone through Jugoslawia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Pakistan, Nepal and India (with B. Hoffann and K. Dudesek, amongst others). 1992: PIAZZA VIRTUALE at DOCUMENTA 8 with VAN GOGH TV, three months of interactive live TV broadcasting on 3sat. 1997: MACROLAND Vienna. Since 2003 professor for expansion at the Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart. Numerous participations at festivals and visiting professorships.

MENTAL ESCORT / Phase I
Each Student searches a person living in Vienna, who can be called migrant of th 2nd or 3rd generation and who also perceive her/himself in such a way. Within the scope of one week this person will be interviewed, accompagnied, observed and documented with basic video equipment, so that a 24 hours daily routine can be presented in a short video feature (not longer than 15 minutes). Therefore a short written study, may be enriched with images and outlines, should document the collected facts.
Questions concerning work and place of employment, favorite places in Vienna, circle of friends, arrangement of the free time, perspectives towards live and working conditions should be discussed in the study.
The figuration of the video clips can be an independent artistic work.

Workshop II:

Phase 1: Research
Phase 2: Performing studies
Starting from the basic theme of the project Serious Pop, selected texts (song lyrics) of the headed Pop- and Rock-groups, which worked or work with totalitarian structures or forms, will be presented by the coaching team.
A)
Out of those the students choose conjointly. The selection process will be documented and the the group have to give reasons for the criteria of the choice of the definite teh definite text.
B)
The students form small groups of 3 to 6 persons. These groups have the task to develop a performance or performance orientated installation in the length of 10 to 15 minutes out of the chosen song text within the scope of 2 weeks.
The development process will be accompagnied by the producer Thomas J. Jelinek, as coaching director, and by Alexander Nikolic.
The coaching director can consult expert teachers and coaches for intensified trainings and project orientated workshops (speech coach, body- and dance coach/choreographer, media experts, etc.).
C)
The developed performances will be presented and recorded on one or several evenings.
Phase 3: Associated project
Starting form the results and experiences of the works in phase one and two the students develop a free work from the original material which associatively combines the two phases.
The process of formulation is accompanied and coached by Thomas J. Jelinek and Alexander Nikolic.
The students can work in the groups accumulated in phase two, in other constellations or individually.
The coaches are avaliable for technical troubleshooting.
The results of the last phase of the work are presented to a broad audience and on a large scale.
